When Trelawny SPT Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of pneumatic, electric and battery-powered surface preparation equipment, approached us to review their packaging, we were delighted to help.
In late 2024, Trelawny approached us here at The Box Factory to create cardboard packaging solutions which were more commercially viable than its previous packaging.
Trelawny wanted to reduce costs while maintaining brand recognition and avoiding disruption to established packing processes and pallet configurations. It also wanted to improve the customer experience by providing product registration information, without adding extra paper inserts inside the box.
Our expert cardboard box design team was able to advise on a new structural design that addressed the cost challenges while retaining a high quality brand feel.
The result we came up with was an innovative triangle-shaped box, engineered to improve costs while never compromising on strength or protection.
The shape was an innovation. It allows two boxes to sit neatly alongside one another to create a consistent footprint and remove inefficiencies present in the previous format. The previous design, a traditional rectangular box, presented as an opportunity to improve the pallet loading efficiency for Trelawny.
The designers here also created custom inside and outside flexographic print to ensure clear and consistent branding across the new design.
We also recommended printing a QR code directly onto the box, allowing customers to instantly access Trelawny’s product registration page. This reinforced the brand whilst eliminating the need and cost of additional paper inserts.
All of this was created to help maintain a uniform pallet footprint, allowing more tools to be stacked securely on each pallet.
The corrugated cardboard packaging we manufacture is designed not only for end users but for business logistics. At the forefront of this project was to improve pallet density, to maximise storage and to keep transport efficiency. Our boxes, in this case, helped to reduce overall logistics costs. The integrated QR code streamlined product registration, improving usability while eliminating unnecessary inserts.
This project is just one example of how cardboard boxes can:
The transition was seamless, enabling Trelawny to benefit from a more efficient and commercially viable packaging format.
