This style of box has a tuck-in top and a base that locks together. The envelope bottom allows for the rapid erection of the box without the need for gluing or taping.

This style can be modified in a number of ways:

Perforations (that can be torn out on arrival at your customer) on the front-facing panel to make it ‘shelf ready‘
Locking tab to aid closure of the box
An additional crease in the fold-down lid which means the lid can be folded inside the box to make it a display pack
No top flap and ‘U’ shape cut-out on the front (you will have seen this style on many supermarket shelves)

Measurements Explained

All dimensions are expressed as internal dimensions in mm as follows:

Length (L) x Width (W) x Height (H)

Length (L)

Longer dimension at the opening

Width (w)

Shorter dimension at the opening

Height (H)

Dimension from the top of the opening to the base

Variable (v)

A variable dimension defined by the design attributes

The dimensions L, W, H and v are specified in each description of the case construction, for some designs the numerical value of W can exceed the numerical value of L.

Dimensions should be measured on the flat blank from the centre of crease bearing the thickness of the material in mind.

For telescope-type boxes:

The height (h) of the upper part (lid) should be given as a fourth measurement after an oblique stroke.
